SUMMARY

A quick and easy method of sharing the Gospel: The Morality Ladder

We have sin in our life that separates us from God. In an illustration of a ladder as a measure for righteousness or moral living, God is at the top as the standard of goodness and morality. At the bottom, would be the very worst of the worst sinners--like murderers or terrorists (Hitler, for example). Where, between God and Hitler, would you fall on the morality ladder? People who have dedicated their life to serving God, like Mother Teresa or Billy Graham might be placed higher on this scale. We would normally place our name somewhere below that. Given the fact that there is a gap between where we are and what God expects, what can you do to close this gap? Non-Christians will feel as if they need to somehow climb the ladder by performing good deeds. But it doesn't matter how much effort we put into trying to climb the ladder, I am never going to live up to the standards of Mother Theresa or Billy Graham, much less the standards that God wants. In 2 Corinthians 5, we learn that God made Jesus, who had no sin, he placed our sins on Jesus, so that in him, we might have the righteousness of God. The only realisitic plan is to give your life to Jesus and to trust in his righteousness to make up the separation between us and God.
